Nice,
Henry Matisse Museum and Eze.
Today, we
meet for breakfast at 6:30 AM and 8:30 we take a walking tour of “Old
Nice.” There Patrick shows us churches, apartment houses,
and the “Market” area. Afterwards we are left on our own to
look around until 11:00 AM. We meet back at the hotel to take a bus ride
around Nice to Matisse Museum. After touring the museum we have a picnic
lunch which was large Nicoise sandwiches, olives and selection of cookies
and wine to drink.
We were all stuffed and ready to go on to the next adventure,
which was Eze. On the way to Eze, it started to rain. We still saw the
sites and back to Nice. There we were on our own for the rest of the
day. Took
a short nap and back to view the sites of Nice. Shared dinner with Dolly
of pasta with bolognaise sauce, salad and pouched pears for dessert.
The bolognaise sauce is a lot lighter than in the states with very
little meat, which tasted wonderful. The French do know how to dine.
After dinner
we walked to the hotel “Negresco”. It is the oldest, most
expensive hotel in Nice and very nice. On the way back to our hotel
we met a
couple from the states and we shared our experiences of the day with
them. The evening was so wonderful we did not want it to end.
