Les
Baux, Pont du Gard and Avignon
Breakfast at 8:00 AM and on the bus by 9:00. Today we go to Les Baux,
a medieval village carved in, an above 650 ft. above the
valley floor.
On the grounds are medieval siege weapons.
Next stop is Pont du Gard, a 2000 year old aqueduct, the second tallest
Roman structure. Finally, I learn how an aqueduct works.
It is the best
preserved aqueduct in existence. The museum is very interesting and shows
life in Roman times and how the aqueduct
carried water 30 miles to Nimes.
On the way back to Avignon, we stop to buy cherries from a road side stand.
They were so good.
In Avignon, we are free to tour the village and dinner.
