Arles and Cassis
Breakfast at 8:00 AM and on the bus by 9:00. Today we take off to Arles. There we see a bull-fighting ring. Tour the forum and track Vincent Van Gogh’s sights were he painted many of his famous paintings. Yes, I saw the famous café scene for “Starry Nights”. I had lunch in the forum under tents, with some of our group. Good food. After lunch we are back on the bus to Cassis.
Our vacation from our vacation.
Cassis is a village on the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is of white rock not sand that one thinks a beach should be. We became children playing in the water, and trying to balance ourselves as the tide washes away the stone from under us. The village is so beautiful. We stayed at Hotel Golfe, the bright yellow and blue hotel inside and out.
We are free for the rest of the afternoon until 7:00 PM when we go to dinner at L’Oustau de la Mar. We were introduced to Aioli (garlic mayonnaise) the group devoured it. It was served as a first course with fish soup and bread.
Before going to bed that night a good walk around the harbor to watch the tides. It is so-o beautiful here. I do not want to leave this place.
